Neither of us had much experience getting out subscriptions before the A.I.P, so once we heard about the competition, we were a bit frightened to compete against.....GUATEMALA.

But through the encouragements from our shepherds and friends we got the vision.

After discussing on how the teens (8 of us) in our home could get the subscriptions, we were off. Soon after around two months, we found out that our home was in third place for getting out the most subscriptions. Half of the teens recently arrived from Japan (including Joan) and cannot speak Spanish fluently, so it was a BIG encouragement for them.

In July, Phil and Aki (from Mexico City) came for a two week visit and during that period, Phil was able to get a few subscriptions with us. One of the subscriptions we got out together, was at a restaurant across the street from our house. Since the manager was a friend of ours, we would take our kids to the restaurant to play in the playground.

One day, while taking the kids to the playground, the three of us sat down and discussed how we could explain to her about the magazine. After we got it all together, we approached her and she said she'd rather have us speak to her in ENGLISH!! (So much for our hour of discussion). Then, after explaining to her about the mag, she told us that she read one that she had borrowed from a friend, and was very interested in Conectate. After telling her about our competition, she agreed to subscribe....YEAHH!

When we got back to the table, we found Pat's younger sister talking to a customer's daughter. We started talking to her parents anddiscovered that the father spoke English too! (Although he preferred us to speak Spanish). He was impressed by our lifestyle and work and wanted to help. He was complimenting on how the kids were so well behaved. When we asked him if he would like to subscribe, he politely declined our offer but offered us his services in the future.
All that to say, the Lord has been giving us the inspiration, faith, and vision to Activate Mexico.
