AIP TESTIMONIES -- MEXICO DF
Name: AndyAge: 17
After a stirring devotions led by Jairo and Robin showing a video of the AIP kick-off in Guatemala, we were all keyed up and raring to go out and witness. We had heard from the Lord as to where to go, confirming our original plans. We were all in the car and someone brought up the idea of having inspiration and praise time in the one hour it took to get to the little town that would be our designated witnessing location for the day. All was going as planned until we reached our destination.
“Hey where are the CD cards I told someone to bring?” Our driver looked over our crew of 8, trying to determine which one of us teens he had asked to bring the CD cards. “Jasper, where are those CD’s I asked you to bring?” “You didn’t tell me.” Jasper responded. Oh well, here we are an hour away from home, tiny town, no CD’s or anything. At least some of us had the presence of mind to bring Conéctate mags. We tallied the total ad found we had 45. We divvied them up between the 3 teams and had a good prayer before taking off in different directions and beginning our Activated push.
Well for me at least this was something totally new as I hadn’t ever done much more than restaurant singing, so I felt like a fish out of water. My partner and I had a good prayer and set off to the first of the shops along our route. The dingy outlook of the pharmacy didn’t help my faith any. We entered and the lady behind the counter greeted us warmly. We launched into our rehearsed lines and waited with anticipation as the lady looked over the mag. “Sure ill subscribe.” Well if my jaw dropping right there wouldn’t have ruined the sample it definitely would’ve hit the counter. A completely unexpected miracle of supply and encouragement for the both of us. Well once we had helped the lady fill in the subscription form, gotten her saved, and left the small building we praised the Lord for the miracle that it was.
The next few places we tried, however, all gave the same answer. “Business is slow, rainy season is here so people aren’t shopping. Así que hoy no hay lana.” We entered a small grocery store and talked with the manager, a young man about in his 20’s. He said he couldn’t subscribe as he didn’t have any money and the shop wasn’t his. He had to ask his sister who was the boss before taking money. As we were preparing to leave who walks in but the sister. He goes to her and says “Come check this out. It’s really cool.” He then proceeds to explain the whole thing to her with only a little help from us. Her face is blank and I think, “Great, here’s another no.” Well my pessimism went down the drain as she said, “Sure I’ll subscribe. I’m interested in this spiritual stuff.” The Lord had done it twice in less than an hour!
